In their words

We spoke with Maggie Rowell, Merchandise and Branding Manager at Octagon Paris about her experience working with EGD

Why did you choose to partner with Event Goods Delivered?

It was easy to trust them [EGD] with the responsibility because they knew exactly on our side what had to be done. They were constantly prepared with Powerpoint presentations to show and I think it made it great because the client at times didn't really know what direction to go in. So it was easier to guide them with what they thought should be the easiest option, the cheapest option that still was in their values and our values and Toyota's values as well.

What work did EGD do for you during the Paris Games?

I would say on the base level: brainstorming, pulling different ideas like what, pieces should be in the kit, what pieces should be for the welcome bags , different ideas for the VIP gifts. So the 1st level of pulling together and then sourcing, so sourcing the different uniforms. Also quality control - making sure everything Is worn okay before we even distribute it. Fulfilment, deliveries just like literally from A to Z: getting the ideas, making it reality and then putting it out into the world that it's supposed to live in.

What did you appreciate most about working with EGD?

Just the fact of like the prior knowledge to the industry and connections made it really easy because they're like, oh, we need a model car. Oh maybe we have somebody that could potentially do it. Let me go ask this guy. It was the can do attitude. It's like oh yeah we can check it out. Or you need more warehouse space for a robot. Oh, yeah, we can look into it. Just like the willing to be there and support when we had like random requests.

What makes EGD different from other merchandise suppliers?

Just the fact of like the prior knowledge to the industry and connections made it really easy because they're like, oh, we need a model car. Oh maybe we have somebody that could potentially do it. Let me go ask this guy. It was the can do attitude. It's like oh yeah we can check it out. Or you need more warehouse space for a robot. Oh, yeah, we can look into it. Just like the willing to be there and support when we had like random requests.

How was the relationship between EGD and your agency client?

You guys just handled every single different thing that was thrown and so I would say overall really good.

Would you recommend EGD’s services? If so, who to?

I think it's just you guys know what you're doing and you do it at a really high level. So it's like how could you not recommend your services to future events?

Technology to keep agency and client aligned

For the Summer Games 2024, EGD debuted the EGD Client Portal. The portal allows every accredited stakeholder to access the inventory and delivery schedule for their activation.

The portal was particularly valuable in our collaboration with Octagon and Toyota, as it provided all parties with real-time updates for every item involved. This visibility was essential for managing such a large-scale project effectively.

Technology highlights

  • EGD launched the EGD Client Portal for the Summer Games 2024

  • All items and deliveries were traceable in the Portal

  • Access could be granted to any relevant stakeholder: in this case agency and client — as well as EGD.

Delivering personalised uniform kits at scale

EGD received the orders from the suppliers and then picked and packed the items into individual kits for each Toyota employee, as well as gift sets for Toyota’s guests. In total we packed 123,000 items across 35 item different item types, with 42 unique kit variants.

The volume and variety of items meant that EGD’s processes needed to be watertight and scaleable.

Operations highlights

  • All kits were delivered to the relevant employees on time.

  • Two order discrepancies were identified by EGD's order management system before final delivery to the receiving parties. EGD were able to rectify the errors and resupply the correct items.

Designed for impact

Octagon and Toyota aimed to make their activation stand out amidst the Olympic celebrations. To help, we created striking designs with gold metallic fabrics, reflecting the Olympic theme while remaining eye-catching daily. A total of 25 items were designed to meet the needs of Toyota’s staff, guests, and sponsored athletes.

Design highlights

  • We focused on delivering a clear visual identity with distinctive brand and event-themed colours.

  • EGD created 25 separate items including multiple layers for the varied climates of the Games. The kits included stationary, fans, water bottles and full outfits.

  • The Toyota team loved their gold rain jacket and sling bags, and the unique varsity jackets were were a hit with the athletes.
